Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging
The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is a private non-profit agency designated by the State of Ohio to administer State and Federal funds, as well as other grant funds. Located in Mansfield, the AAA covers nine counties in north central Ohio, including Marion County. Below is a summary of their programs. The AAA can be contacted by calling 1-800-860-5799.
PASSPORT
PASSPORT provides an alternative to nursing home placement through coordinated in-home services to Medicaid-eligible older adults, age 60 and over. PASSPORT covers personal care, homemaker, respite, home-delivered meals, chore, medical transportation, adult day care, home modification, durable medical equipment, and more. Case managers are used to coordinate services.
Long Term Care Consultation
This service is available to anyone seeking long-term care, the opportunity to ask questions about their options. Can be by phone or in-home. Previously known as Care Choice Ohio.
Care Coordination
Care Coordination helps to locate, activate and coordinate in-home services for frail elderly age 60 and over, who are at risk of needing institutional care. The Care Manager links consumers and families with available local resources and can purchase homemaker, personal care, or respite services for them with available funding.
Long Term Care Ombudsman
The Long Term Care Ombudsman provides a voice for consumers of long-term care services in nursing homes, county homes, residential care facilities, adult care facilities, adult foster homes and in private residences, regardless of age. Anyone may call or write the Ombudsman to talk about a concern they may have.
National Family Caregiver Support Program
This program can help if you find yourself in the role of caregiver. You can receive a no-cost caregiver newsletter, as well as Information & Assistance.
Home Modification, Repair, & Chores
Assistance with home repairs and maintenance, addressing issues of safety and accessibility.

Marion County Council on Aging
The Marion County Council on Aging is responsible for the administration of the Senior Services Levy funds, which was first approved by the voters of Marion County in 2006. Since then, the Council on Aging has been providing home and community-based services for Marion County residents age 60 and older, who live in an independent living situation and have a demonstrated need for services. The following services are provided to Marion County seniors through the Senior Services Levy.
Transportation
County-wide for medical needs, as well as other essential errands as the schedule permits. Transportation to the Delaware and Columbus area is also provided for medical reasons only.

Home-Delivered Meals

Non-emergency shopping assistance for home-bound seniors who are 60+ years old, for groceries and prescriptions only. Marion Senior Center: 740-387-6100
In-Home Care Services
In-home Care provides light housekeeping services such as sweeping, dusting, cleaning, and laundry. Can also provide assistance with personal care such as bathing, grooming, dressing, limited caregiver respite, and other personal needs. Priority is given to the clients with the greatest need. Providing agencies are CenterWell, Interim Home Health, and Freedom Caregivers. Call Marion Co Council on Aging to state needs at 740-387-0401.
Adult Day Care
The Adult Day Care program provides caregiver respite, offering day services that include supervision, meals, social activities, medication administration, and more to seniors diagnosed with dementia. Marion County Council on Aging works in collaboration with Kingston, 740-389-2311.

Grants and Resources
Community Enrichment Grants
Each year, the Marion County Council on Aging awards grants to local organizations for special projects that enrich and enhance living conditions, and helps with the unexpected needs of Marion County Older Adults who are at least 60 years old and living independently. In the past, awards have been granted to help seniors with funeral expenses, home appliances, prescription assistance, minor home repairs, large print book delivery for homebound seniors, wheelchair ramps, utility expenses, senior celebrations, and educational seminars. These Community Enrichment Grants will only be awarded to organizations, not individuals.
